Charles "Tinker" Young Crawford

Retired RCMP Sgt. Crawford Charles “Tinker” Young (#18822) passed away in Delta, British Columbia on June 25th, 2011.

Tinker joined the RCMP in 1955 and trained in “Depot” Division. Following training he was posted to North Battleford, Raddison, Yorkton, Punnichy, Kyle, Maple Creek, and Foam Lake.

Following his retirement in 1976, Tinker joined the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. At the time of his retirement from DFO, he was Chief of Regulations, Enforcement and Field Services. Tinker was instrumental in arranging for Fisheries Officers to take training at “Depot”and was given special recognition by the RCMP and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) for this progressive accomplishment.

Tinker and his wife Doreen also were active gold miners and spent much of their life in the wilderness.
